This book captured me from the first page, and it was really hard to put it down. "A lady cyclist’s guide to Kashgar" is charming book telling the story about two brave ladies whose lives are decades apart. Despite that their lives are in some ways connected. Author of this book Suzanne Joinson is writer from England, who had worked for British Council, and had a chance to travel to Middle East, Russia, China, Western and Eastern Europe. Her travelling experience has impact on her writing and makes it very realistic.
Author writes in very readable and touching way, making you feel like the characters from the book, feeling their joy and sadness, calmness and worries. There are many unexpected turns in the book, and it is very hard to predict what will happen next or even to predict how the book will finish. Also, book gives great description of places on the Silk Road, I felt like I can see those places in front of me. It made me wishing to visit some of those places. And I especially liked that one of the main character Eva is going everywhere on her bike, and she regularly explores Kashgar, city far away from her home and family, on her bike. Reading these parts of the book, I almost could feel Eva’s passion for biking and her bravery to do that in foreign country with different customs. Also, the book nicely portraits Eva’s love for her sister, and their sister relationship. Actually, this book describes different types of love, family love, friendship, romantic love, love for the child, and all comforts and difficulties that come from different relationships and different types of love.
I recommended this book to everyone who loves to read about different places, and who wants to be inspired by the courage and love.
